Plants very large, with well developed aboveground stem, covered by cross-scars which are marks of fallen off leaves (young plants with shortened stems). Tips of stems with several large (up to 1⅔′) rounded spear-shaped leaves with thick veins emerging on both sides of a leaf. - Alocasia. |
Plants smaller with shortened stems and knobby rhizomes. Leaves spear-shaped, on long fleshy petioles. Leaf blades slightly wavy, with long soft tapering pointed tip. Main vein strongly emerged on underside of a leaf. - Zantedeschia. |
