Genus of 6 species of trailing, annual or perennial grasses from tropical and subtropical forest in Africa, Asia, Polynesia, and Central and South America. Basket Grass is an excellent alternative to Tradescantia. Its slender stems spread rapidly and trail dracefully. Oplismenus may be recommended as a ground cover. One of its blessings is the simplicity of rasing new plants. |

Warm - minimum 50 F in winter. Bright light. Shade from direct sun. Grow in standard cactus potting mix. |
Keep compost moist at all times - reduce watering in winter. Mist leaves frequently. |
Take stem cuttings in spring or devide plant. Sow pre-soaked seed at 70 F (21 C) in spring. |
