Carex

Family: Cyperaceae.

Carex brunnea "Variegata" (Carex elegantissima) Common name(s): Sedge
Carex Genus of about 1500 species of deciduous and evergreen, rhizomatous or tufted perennials from temperate and arctic zones, and from tropical regions. Carex is a foliage plant. Only one species (C. brunnea) is suitable as house plants. The Japanece Sedge is not often seen but is extremely easy to look after indoors. Its white-striped leaves make it a useful specimen for a terrarium or for growing among other plants in an indoor garden.
Growing conditions Watering and misting Propagation
Warm - minimum 50F in winter. As much light as possible. Shade from hot sun. Keep compost moist at all times - reduce watering in winter. Mist leaves frequently. Divide plant at any time.
