Young branches round. Scale-like leaves very tiny, narrow, may be dark or light green, sometimes with tint of blue. Leaves appressed to stems on young shoots, slightly bent out (reflected) on old ones. Gracile tree. - Cupressus sempervirens. Young branches flat. Scale-like leaves larger, widely rhomboid, bright green, densely appressed to stems. Plants densely branched. - Thuja occidentalis.
